Week 2 is history! Time for a new batch of power rankings. AYL contributors rank each team, and the ranks are averaged out for the ultimate authority on MLS team strengths. 1. Kansas City Wizards. Previous Ranking: #4. Two home games and two wins, and KC looks like they could be tough. - Hart 2. Chivas USA. Previous Ranking: #2. Showing some chinks in the armor, but took care of business at home. - Hart 3. Chicago Fire. Previous Ranking: #8. Dominating performance over the Eastern beasts New England. - Enger 4. New England Revolution. Previous Ranking: #1. Looked like world-beaters after destroying Houston, now look like pretenders after annhilation by Chicago. - Horton 5. DC United. Previous Ranking: #5. Did their best to show that the week 1 loss was a fluke, destroying lowly TFC. - Hart 6. Colorado Rapids. Previous Ranking: #7. The Fernando Clavijo rollercoaster still rolls on. - Enger 7. New York Red Bulls. Previous Ranking: #11. Secured three points in their only game, but you have to consider the competition. - Horton 8. FC Dallas. Previous Ranking: #6. I thought Davino was supposed to give them defensive strength. - Enger 9. Houston Dynamo. Previous Ranking: #3. If it weren't for that stoppage time equalizer, there may have been riots in Houston. - Horton 10. Columbus Crew. Previous Ranking: #9. Uninspiring. - Hart 11. Los Angeles Galaxy. Previous Ranking: #12. A home win over SJ does not atone for the week 1 shocker. - Hart 12. Real Salt Lake. Previous Ranking: #10. One point in two games, but has played the toughest schedule in the league so far. - Horton 13. San Jose Earthquakes. Previous Ranking: #14. They looked like an expansion team in their opener. - Enger 14. Toronto FC. Previous Ranking: #13. Picked up where they left off - jumped out to the league's worst record and a -5 goal differential. - Hart
Biggest Climber: Chicago Fire (5 spots) Biggest Slider: Houston Dynamo (6 spots) Of Note: Kansas City's hot start won them a unanimous vote for the top spot. Colorado climbed a spot despite losing, and FC Dallas managed to slide two spots despite a road draw against the reigning champs. The Hoops' ranking ranged from #4 to #11. Comments (0)
